Raised in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, VJ Vishal later relocated to Chennai to further his schooling. He finished his education at Chennai’s A. V. Meiyappan Matriculation Elevated Secondary High School. He attended Anna University in Chennai to complete his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree after high school. Despite starting his education in engineering, he considered a career in Tamil television because he was interested in entertainment.

VJ Vishal began his career in the Tamil entertainment industry in 2017 as an anchor on Velicham TV and subsequently worked on Vendhar TV. His natural charisma and presenting skills made him a popular face on television, and he gained initial recognition through his work as a host.
